Laurie and Bob Rollins - Seniors support more resources for students

Davis has been our home for forty-two years, and for thirteen of those we have been active volunteers in schools. Although our only child has graduated from Davis High and we are now considered "seniors," we continue to fully support tax measures that provide more resources for students. We strongly believe that a well-educated populace benefits everyone.
Measure W supports that goal. Everyone can surely find something to value among the programs it will fund. Our own son found his future path through the diversity of math, science and foreign language offerings in junior high and high school. Other students find music, athletics or libraries most valuable, providing them that important connection to school that keeps them coming back, day after day, for more.
We appreciate that all funds generated by Measure W will support classroom instruction. While seniors may opt out of the tax, if it is a hardship for them to contribute, we think that many see the value of Davis schools to them and our community. We will happily vote Yes on Measure W and pay $120 a year so that one day, perhaps, the excellent programs offered in our schools may be the reason our son brings his own family to live in Davis.
