Sarah Robinson - Students, vote "yes" on W!
".... And parents, remind your kids to request their absentee ballots and get them back on time. They're probably busy with midterms right now, but this is very important!"
I am so excited to vote for the first time this November, especially since this election is a monumental one in American history! I am glad that I get to participate and make my voice heard from my dorm room at UC San Diego via absentee ballot.
I know who my candidates are, but I needed some help sorting through all those propositions. I found some good explanations of what a yes or no vote means by reading the League of Women Voter’s Easy Voter Guide at www.easyvoter.org.
But the last choice on the ballot is easy. It's obvious to me to vote yes on Measure W. I started in Davis schools in 2nd grade and have had many fantastic teachers, as well as participated in some excellent school programs. My Davis education has helped me become who I am today and I know that I am incredibly lucky to have had such an experience. Furthermore, I have two sisters still in school at home and I want them to have the same education and opportunities I had.
So students, vote yes on Measure W. You can visit www.YesW.org for more information, or check out the Facebook page. And parents, remind your kids to request their absentee ballots and get them back on time. They're probably busy with midterms right now, but this is very important!
