Floyd Fenocchio - Funding for district programs and buildings are different and separate

".... As you make your decision on November 4th, it is important for you to know that the Davis school district has two distinct streams of funding. As I have been walking the precincts to talk with friends and neighbors about the importance of passing Measure W, questions have come up regarding the nature of district funding.  As you make your decision on November 4th, it is important for you to know that the Davis school district has two distinct streams of funding.  One has to do with school buildings and the other has to do with support of the valuable instructional programs that the district currently has in place for all students.   Measure W deals with the support of these programs for the next three-year period.  Measure W has nothing to do with the support of the district's school building program and, therefore, cannot be used to support building projects.  The reverse is also true; funds generated from the building stream cannot be used to fund teacher salaries or treasured programs.  It is important that voters understand this distinction.  While school districts in California address the uncertainties of current and future state school funding, Measure W provides stable, qualitative support of our cherished programs into the foreseeable future.  I urge you to vote "yes" on Measure W on November 4.
