Keltie Jones - Vote for kids, family, change, hope
"Our children are our future, and they all deserve an outstanding education. In Davis, we can afford to provide more for our kids than the minimal state funding covers. Let's maintain that tradition by voting yes on Measure W. "
Children, education, family, integrity, change, and hope: These are fundamental building blocks that make our community, state and country extraordinary places to live. On Nov. 4, we have the opportunity to cast several votes to continue that tradition.
Our children are our future, and they all deserve an outstanding education. In Davis, we can afford to provide more for our kids than the minimal state funding covers. Let's maintain that tradition by voting yes on Measure W. For just $10 a month we can support essential school programs (not to mention maintain our high property values). In addition, please vote yes on Measure M, the Los Rios bond that will provide wonderful new community college facilities, including some in Davis.
Families come in all forms, and we must continue to support and value all families. Marriage is more than just a word — it is an institution that conveys more than 1,000 legal rights and protections. All people should be free to choose who they love and have access to the ultimate commitment of marriage. Support equality for all people and families in our state by voting no on Proposition 8.
You often hear "integrity" connected to Lois Wolk. She is intelligent, honest, fair and an excellent representative for the people she serves. She is also in a close race with an opponent who is not familiar with our community and our needs. Please vote for her to become our next state senator.
The themes we have heard most from all candidates in this campaign year are "change" and "hope," but Barack Obama was the one who brought those themes to the table. His vision of the good that the United States can do both at home and in the world, of how we can change our patterns of polarized disagreement to work collaboratively for common goals, has inspired me to work for his election for more than a year.
We need to move forward in this nation — for our children, for our families, and for the common good. Please join me in voting for Barack Obama. Let's change the world together!
