Clyde Quick conducts the Holmes Junior High School eighth-grade band at a ceremony Thursday honoring veterans. Social studies teacher Mike Dufresne, an Iraq war veteran and retired sergeant in the National Guard, was the master of ceremonies. He recognized three other Holmes staffers who are veterans: Doug Kuntz and Paul Carrie, who served in the U.S. Navy, and Bill Williams, who served in the Army National Guard. Additionally, two other staffers have relatives currently serving in the armed forces: Amy Labson, whose husband is in the U.S. Army, and Bonnie Wyncoop, whose husband is stationed in the Air Force in Afghanistan. Among the attendees were English teacher Nancy Agee’s parents, Bob and Cathy Elliott. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a tug rescue boat in the Philippines.
